Highland Design & Construction is Steamboats only true design and build firm. We provide a unique architectural process and experience unlike any other in the state. We believe there is only one way to build a house with complete dedication and commitment, and that is one at a time. If your architect was your lead carpenter and craftsman then the possibilities would be endless. This is what separates us from the rest. Each project is meticulously thought out, from site analysis through design and structure, to the numerous details and features, creating a harmonious work of art for each client to live in and enjoy for many generations.
Rob Subry, owner of Highland Design & Construction, has a BS in Architecture from the University of Colorado, put himself through school working as a carpenter, and has been designing and building mountain homes in Colorado for over 20 years, with the past 15 years in Steamboat.
The concept is ‘one stop shopping.’ It eliminates the triangle between the architect, contractor, and client. With your architect working on site every day as the lead carpenter the design of the house can evolve through creative eyes, as a work of art should. This process enables the client to discuss in detail any issues related to design, construction, or billing, at any point in the day with a phone call. This allows the client to develop an intimate relationship with one person through out the entire project, which inevitably leads to a lasting friendship.
