OUR PHILOSOPHY
Having a home designed and built is a huge undertaking both financially and emotionally. The cost of construction in Steamboat continues to rise at an alarming rate. A recent article published by Colorado Reality Group states that the average price per square foot increased by 28% in 2007. It is our goal to provide a process for designing and building a custom home that is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for our clients. We achieve this goal for our clients through complete honesty, integrity, commitment, and accessibility, combined with continuous communication, resulting in no surprises. We provide harmonious and innovative designs by taking the time to listen to our clients needs, carefully evaluating the land to properly site the house, and understanding the harsh environment that we live and build in.
Steamboat has the most severe weather conditions for a house to survive in. We receive over 300 inches of snow a year and it is not uncommon to have 60 degree temperature swings in the winter between night and day which, combined with the intense Colorado sun, makes for prime ice damming conditions. If a house is not designed and built properly, it will tear itself apart over time. Unfortunately the amount of money spent to build a custom home does not necessarily relate to its ability to survive our environment. You have to care, observe, evaluate, learn, and apply what you know with meticulous attention to detail in order for a house to perform well here. The industry throws around catch phrases like building green and sustainable, which are great concepts. However, the reality is if a house is not constructed properly, it does not matter what materials are used, we will be tearing it down within 30 years. We are constantly evaluating every phase of a project to increase the overall longevity and performance in our environment. We feel it is our responsibility to ourselves as professionals, to you as the clients, and to the environment for the future generations to use the materials we have left as wisely as we can.
